' Reference was made to the letter from the President and Council of the Royal Society to the President of the Board of Trade dated 22 February 1855, in which the estalishment of self - recording Anemometers at several of the Islands of the Atlantic Ocean was especially recommended.

Resolved: that Lord Wrottesley be requested to communicate the resolution of the British Association in reference to the above subject to the President of the Board of Trade, and to urge on his Lordship's attention the importance to the interests of navigation as well as meteorological science, of the results which anemometers so placed would afford. '
