DescriptionEmilia has given birth to a son and Alexander gives an account of mother and child. Their parent Mrs. Calder came to stay, but her health is broken. Emilia also complains of bodily weakness. He sympathises with his correspondent's secluded state and family trials. He asks for family news to be communicated to his 'poor desolate friend. Mr. Hugh Calder'.
