| Description | Alexander has little to tell since his last letter. They have been getting their baggage from the ship, he and the children are well, with the exception of Catherine, who was sea-sick. A tailor recommended by Mrs. Black has been making the boys' clothes. He gives news of Mr. and Mrs. Hepburne and their boys, and as they met at twilight, Alexander's sons' tartans did not appear as bad as they were. He notes the delivery of letters and being introduced to the shipowner by Hugh Cameron. They are delighted with the house, and have been given articles of furniture. They are looking forward to Emilia joining them, but her journey from Inverness to Perth with Isabella will be fatiguing and he asks for information on the arrival time of her coach at Edinburgh. She might get a street coach directly to 18 St. John's Street. He may write again before she goes and he is puzzled where to put Alick Fraser, who will travel with her, to sleep on arrival. |
