| Title | Letter from A [Alexander] Stewart, Blair Athole, to Mrs [Emilia] Stewart, at the Reverend Mr Calder's, Minister of Urquhart, presently at the Revd Mr McIntosh's, Tain |
| Creator | Stewart; Alexander (1764-1821); British Presbyterian minister and Gaelic scholar |
| Recipient | Stewart [née Calder]; Emilia (1780-1855); British |
| Date | 18 July 1803 |
| Description | Having found a man going to Ferintosh, Tain, and Sutherland, he takes the opportunity to write. He had a scratch on his shinbone which, with the hot weather, promises to be a sore 'of some continuance'. It may confine him to the house, so that he can continue with his Gaelic work. It will not keep him from Balquidor, but it may keep him indoors on his return. He asks about her health and if she has had the return of breast pain. He thinks she should not conceal this from her parents. His commissions will be over by the middle of August or early September and he discusses possible travel arrangements, including spending time at home. He asks what striking hymns or passages she has enjoyed, and passes on regards from his sister. Janet Mackenzie is collecting verses for her.
