RecipientStewart [née Calder]; Emilia (1780-1855); British
Date25-30 July 1803
DescriptionHe has been speaking to 'many careless sinners, and to some thirsty souls'. He gives an account of a journey via Logierait and expresses his love for Emilia. He notes the threat of invasion from France. His leg had become inflamed and he is continuing with a poultice. He asks how Emilia has been employed at Tain. [26 July] Margaret Stewart gives general news of her activities. [29 July] Alexander, Margaret and Sandy arrived at Moulin the night before, Alexander having found Emilia's letter at Pitlochry. He gives an account of people met on Loch Tay side, including missionaries. He was obliged to dismiss a gathering of people following a disapproving letter from the Minister of the Parish. The Minister later explained that Alexander was welcome in his pulpit, but that occasional gatherings were used by missionaries in their own favour, and against the Minister. He gives other minor news about acquaintances. [30 July] He saw Allan Stewart at the Blair Sacrement, but had no private conversation and can give no further account of how he behaves. He sends references to Bible texts collected by her sisters.
