Description | Ivory compares Airy's method of expanding the disturbing function with that of Lagrange, suggesting that Airy has 'borrowed' from Lagrange. Six related letters to P M [Peter Mark] Roget regarding opposition to Ivory's work on the equilibrium of a mass of fluid, verification of Airy's method, and requesting that Ivory's research be presented before the Royal Society. The letters are dated 30 May 1833, 14 November 1833, 15 November 1833, 20 Nov 1833 and 26 Nov 1833, with the remaining letter undated.. One letter from Roget in reply (dated 25 November 1833).
