Title | Paper, 'An experimental enquiry into the nature of the radiant heating effects from terrestrial sources' by Baden Powell |
Date | [1824] |
Description | Powell describes experiments designed to examine the relation between types of surfaces and the proportion of radiant heat stopped or transmitted by these surfaces in his experiments on the heating power of light rays.
A manuscript note attached to the covering page of the paper reads 'Query 1822', but this is apparently incorrect as Powell uses the postnomials FRS on this paper. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society on 13 May 1824, so this paper must therefore be after that date.
This paper was published in volume 115 of Philosophical Transactions as 'An experimental enquiry into the nature of the radiant heating effects from terrestrial sources'.
Subject: Physics
Read to the Royal Society on 17 February 1825.
An abstract of this paper was published in Abstract of the Papers Printed in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London [later Proceedings of the Royal Society], volume 2. |
