DescriptionMottley reports his observations on temperature during lunar and solar eclipses in 1827. During a solar eclipse on 26 April and a lunar eclipse on 11 May, he found no change in temperature. During a solar eclipse on 20 October he reports that the temperature fell seven degrees. Likewise, during a lunar eclipse on 3 November, the temperature rose five degrees.

Written by Mottley in Ramsgate [Kent, England] and addressed to the Secretary of the Royal Society at Somerset House in London. Postmarked 16 and 17 December 1827.
