DescriptionFisher shares the results of experiments carried out by the late James Napier, Master of HMS Winchester. Includes Napier's remarks on the experimental setup and a table of results which captures location, latitude, longitude, Time of 100 Horizontal Vibrations, temperature, Comparative Horizontal Forces. Results are included for Portsmouth, Bermuda, Carthagena [Cartagena], Santa Martha [Santa Marta], Halifax, New Brunswick, Barbadoes [Barbados], Antigua and Jamaica. Annotation from John George Children on the back of the paper reads 'archive'.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 3 of Abstracts of the Papers Printed in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London [later Proceedings of the Royal Society] as 'An account of some experiments made in the West Indies [Caribbean] and North America, to determine the relative magnetic forces, in the Years 1831, 32, and 33'.
