DescriptionKölliker and Pelikan describe the Tanghinia venenifera, 'the famous poison-tree of Madagascar', writing on its history, the extraction of its poison and the physiological effects of its poison, using frogs as test subjects. They observe that it is a paralysing poison which stops the action of the heart within five to 15 minutes.
