Description | Prestwich writes on the position of the drift with the flint implements at different heights, the independent origin and difference of age of the terrace and valley gravels, the direction of transport of the materials of the terrace gravel, the mode of formation of the terrace gravels, the fauna of the terrace gravels with reference to the climate conditions of the period and to their age, the presence of man-probable use of the flint implements, the structure and mode of formation of the valley gravels, the organic remains of the valley gravels and the question of time and succession.
Annotations in pencil and ink throughout. Marked on front in red ink as 'Mr Prestwich's original paper - from which the paper of 1863 was written'.
