DescriptionSimpson explains that in an earlier issue of the Proceedings of the Royal Society he gave a preliminary notice of a tribasic acid having the composition C12 H8 O12, formed by the action of potash on tercyanide of allyle. He shares details of related experiments.

Marked on front as 'Archives Nov/65'. Annotations in pencil throughout. Includes one diagram relating to an organic acid discovered by Simpson. A related paper was published in Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On the synthesis of tribasic acids'.
