DescriptionThe object of this investigation is to study the changes undergone by the species of a small group of butterflies as they are traced from one locality to another, and to ascertain the bearing of these facts upon the theory of mimicry.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 53 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On the mimetic forms of certain butterflies of the genus Hypolimnas'.
