DescriptionOldham's investigation arises 'out of the discussion of the aftershocks of the Indian earthquake of 1897, in which it was shown that these aftershocks seemed to show that the tidal stresses set up by the Sun had a distinct effect in determining the time of uccrrence of earthquakes.'

Includes three graphs of diurnal and semidiurnal frequency of Japanese earthquakes.
