Creator | Thornton; W M (fl 1916) |
Date | 1918 |
Description | Thornton writes: 'The present work arose from an examination of the risks attending the use of electricity in coal mines. In such a case it is necessary, in order to devise safeguards, to distinguish between electrical and thermal factors in the process of ignition.' He presents experimental observations regarding the influence of reduced pressure upon the electrical ignition of gases.
