Date | [1814] |
Description | Heyne describes the use of metals in Hindu medicine, including quicksilver [mercury], iron, gold, and silver. He describes how silver is oxidised using vegetable juices and fire as a preparation for use in medical treatment. He then goes on to discuss these 'vegetable milks', focusing on those of opium [Papaver somniferum], gamboge [Garcinia xanthochymus], gum elastic [Ficus elastica], and euphorbia [Euphorbia resinifera?].
