TitleUnpublished paper, 'A treatise on the means of supplying muscles in a state of spasm or paralysis with nervous power' by S [Samuel] Hood
Date[1819]
DescriptionHood recounts cases of patients to whom nitrate of silver was applied externally, discovering that it held certain antispasmodic qualities. Through his observations, he determines that muscular spasm and paralysis are caused by diminished nervous action and that nitrous acid can influence nervous power but also increase vascular activity.
