Title | Letter from Elizabeth Grey, Falloden to Charles Blagden, 9 Gower Street, Bedford Row, London |
Date | 24 November 1784 |
Description | Thanks Blagden for sending parcel with Herschel's dissertations, although she "sees through a glass darkly". Discusses Cavendish and the confirmation of his experiments by foreign philosophers, enquires about the use to which his discoveries will be put. She and her daughter will not be visiting London this winter. Discusses comparison of findings of Mr Schiele, Priestley and Lavoisier. Asks for Blagden's opinion on Cavendish's comments on elementary heat. Her daughter has sent her honey to send to him. |
