His health is better just now that it has been for some years and will be serving on two Commissions for Weights and Measures and for the prevention of the forgery of bank notes. Writes "I fancy that the Royal Society is Rising in the Public Estimation". Cuvier is in London with Leach. Kater is preparing for his journey to Shetland. The Northern Expedition has sailed from Shetland in high spirits as appears by their letters, Sabine has sent home some pendulum observations. Asks if Blagden has heard of a treatise on magnetism printed at the expense of the King of Sweden. |
