Has received letters from Richie and Lyon, Richie is quite recovered and talked of a trip to Tripoli as his great journey will not be until May or June. Describes Egyptian statue sent by Salt. Discusses Dutch naval force in East Indies. Has not yet got Newfoundland dog. Has heard nothing of Polar Adventurers since July. Sends New Year greetings. Herschel's paper was approved by Biot and it gave general satisfaction. Discusses preparation of colchicum root and wine recommended by Home. |
