TitleLetter from Sir Joseph Banks, Revesby Abbey to Charles Blagden
Date[1 November 1782]
DescriptionGives an extract of a letter from Mr Dryander who heard from Lind that Herschel had discovered animation on the moon. Will not comment until better acquainted with the report. Lind is now at Windsor in the late Dr Thackeray's rooms. Hunter has refused Yates's negative legacy and instead the executor has allowed him to choose specimens to the value of £150, 900 specimens in total. Discusses weather and effect on harvest and prices of barley and oats. "Am not I grown an errant rustick. Next week however I intend to rub off all this chaff of Agriculture and polish myself as I can against the diamond cut edge of science".
