| Description | Has received a large packet of papers from a M Rampasse who has studied the geology of Corsica and made a large collection among which is the famous porphyre Napoleon. Rampasse wishes to present his collections to the British Museum, not for remuneration but hints that he would like to join the Royal Society and that he would like to be employed by the British Government to explore the geology of Corsica and Sardinia. Asks Blagden to find out about him but in his opinion does not see much value in the proposal to the interests of the nation. Has been overturned in his coach by the folly of a drunken coachman, none of his party were injured, however the shock caused him to pass a kidney stone that has troubled him for 10 years. |
