TitleDraft of a letter from Charles Blagden to Thomas Blagden
Date[late 18th century]
DescriptionAsks his brother not to send his previous letter. Discusses Miss B and her visit to town. Agrees that parents have a right to express their disapprobation but Miss B had no authority from him to say anything to them. Asks his brother to pass on this message "That it would have been fully time enough for them to send a refusal, when I had asked them for their consent: that the message conveyed in your letter was in many respects highly offensive; and that I therefore decline all further intercourse with them till they have learned to treat me with proper respect." Does not understand what has happened suspects some trick among the officers. Believes stocks will rise considerably.
