DescriptionHas taken the first opportunity to write to Blagden. Describes his journey to Leiden and his reception there. Describes Leiden including the Surgeons Hall and the curiosities he saw there. Viewed the city from St Lawrence Church, describes monuments and landscape and monuments. Travelled to Leiden via Rotterdam and Delft, describes monuments he saw including one to Leeuwenhoek. His next letter will be to Delaroche. Describes a lecture by Gaubius. Has not yet seen Albinus. Recommends Blagden write to him in Brussels.
