Description | Notes that a topographic survey is being carried out by the British Government around the equator and on the 30th meridian of east longitude, for the purpose of constructing maps to help settle the boundary between the Congo State and the British sphere of influence in that region. Emphasises the importance of taking advantage of the number of surveyors there at present, to carry out a series of geodetic triangles along the 30th meridian, and disscusses details of this. Notes the conclusions that the Committee of the Royal Geographical Society have come to regarding the best time to carry out this work, and the costs. Notes that the British Association will also partly-fund the study, and asks if the Royal Society will grant £350 from the Government Grant Committee for this purpose. |
