Explains that the work is being shared by 18 observatories across the world, and that one of them stopping work would leave a serious gap in the chart. Explains that the Government of West Australia have instructed Perth observatory to confine operations to local work and dismiss all officers employed on the Astrographic Chart, as explained in the letter from the Australian Government Astronomer [Mr William Ernest Cooke] to Professor [Herbert Hall] Turner, enclosed. |
