Gives Professor [Edward Albert] Schafer the opportunity to bring the matter of who will be the next Secretary to a special meeting of the Council. Notes that the first ruling was preliminary, and that the Council had no power to vote finally on Secretary until after the new member of Council had been selected. Also suggests that the special meeting can discuss the matter of Sir Michael Foster's letter to H. [William Dobinson Halliburton, telling him prematurely that he would be the new Secretary], which Foster did not bring before Council when he should have, as it might have changed their vote. States that personally he would welcome either candidate [Halliburton or Sir Archibald Geikie] as his colleague. |
