Title | Copy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society, to Professor [Alfred] Fowler |
Date | 12 November 1925 |
Description | Discusses the talk at Council about [Meghnad] Saha's eligibility for election to the Royal Society. Jeans now claims to possess knowledge that Saha is 'a rabid revolutionary and has been mixed up with various sorts of anti-British propaganda'. Is not at liberty to reveal the source of this information. Suggests that Fowler might wish to withdraw his proposal in favour of Saha, and considers him 'an unsuitable person for election into the Society'. |
