TitleCopy letter from Sir Archibald Geikie, Secretary of the Royal Society, to Professor [John Bretland] Farmer
Date12 May 1906
DescriptionDiscusses [Charles] Walker's letter [CD/30/4], and his insinuation that a system exists in the Royal Society whereby some officials obtain commissions on the illustrations in publications - a 'charge of corruption'. Calls this charge 'as groundless as it is odious'. Asks that [John Bretland] Farmer obtains an apology from Walker. Suggests that the Royal Society welcomes changes to improve its efficiency and economy, but that this imputation on the Society's character is offensive.
