Title | Letter from [Herbert Hall] Turner, to Joseph Larmor, Secretary of the Royal Society |
Date | 22 March 1903 |
Description | Discusses the complexities of the [International] Astrographic Chart for observatories. Discusses which undertakings they have managed to achieve at Oxford Observatory, and which they still need the money for. Discusses which processes the Perth Observatory will carry out (definitely taking 1200 plates with short exposures) and getting extra money for measurement and reduction of the plates, as well as possibly taking long exposures. Considers whether the measuring should be done in Oxford or whether the Imperial Government will subsidise the work in Australia for around 8-10 years. Encloses a letter from [William Ernest] Cooke, Government Astronomer at Perth Observatory. |
