DescriptionHopes that Mr [Joseph] Chamberlain can use his influence to bear on the Government of West Australia, and to stop them breaching the faith of the Perth Observatory with the International Association for an Astrographic Chart of the heavens. Explains that the work is being shared by 18 observatories across the world, and that one of them stopping work would leave a serious gap in the chart. Explains that the Government of West Australia have instructed Perth observatory to confine operations to local work and dismiss all officers employed on the Astrographic Chart, as explained in the letter from the Australian Government Astronomer [Mr William Ernest Cooke] to Professor [Herbert Hall] Turner, enclosed.
