TitleLetter from [Herbert Hall] Turner, Savilian Professor of Astronomy at Oxford University, to the President of the Royal Society
Date1 December 1904
DescriptionInforms the Royal Society that the Vice Chancellor of Oxford University has resolved that if the Stationary Office will pay half the cost of printing the Oxford portion of the [International] Astrographic Catalogue, then as long as the overall total does not exceed £1400, Oxford University will pay the other half. Notes that he was not consulted before this resolution was agreed, and thinks the wording quite unfortunate, as it has lowered the upper limit of the printing from £2000 (the limit the Stationary Office imposed) to £1400. Cannot associate himself in the request made to modify the offer.
