Description | Informs the Royal Society that they have received samples of medicinal plants from Mr John Roscoe who is conducting the Mackie Ethnological Expedition to Uganda. Notes that it was arranged to have these samples analysed and tested at Cambridge University or by Messrs Burroughs & Wellcome (or another Druggists firm - they are not sure), and that they are going to have duplicate samples tested at Edinburgh University to prevent any mishaps. Thinks that no samples have been sent directly from Roscoe to Cambridge or the Druggists firm. Notes that a portion of each sample received by Mackie has been sent to Edinburgh and examined by Professor Bayley Balfour.
Asks if they know if Roscoe is sending any samples direct to the Royal Society or to Cambridge University. If not, asks the Royal Society to advise where they should send the remaining samples - to Cambridge or to the Druggists.
Also notes that they have telegraphed Roscoe, offering to send a cinema man out to Uganda to take several films. Suggests this man would be with the Expedition for three months, entirely at Roscoe's disposal, if he wants. |
