Discusses the importance, during the war, of the British Empire being self-sufficient regarding the supply of drugs. Discusses shortages. Notes that there is only one raw material, bromine, that is practically unobtainable within the Empire. Notes that the American monopoly on it for the allies at present leading to very high prices, and discusses investigations into whether it can be found in Canada.

Discusses other drugs, herbs, and elements, where they can be naturally sourced or could be planted or mined. Also discusses how to prevent newly developed mineral products from falling under enemy control. Discusses imports and potential restrictions.
