TitleLetter from Adam Sedgwick, The Museums, Cambridge, to Joseph Larmor
Date8 July 1908
DescriptionFormal letter impresing upon Larmor the importance of the Natural History Museum to science. The signatories of the memorial have formed the opinion that the administration of the Museum is inimical to its purposes and have asked the Government for an inquiry. They do not appeal to the Royal Society to take a side, simply to use its influence to have their views heard. Scientists occupy a humble position and zoologists have no weight with the State. They did not approach the Trustees, because that body appears to be secret in both constitution and proceedings. The petition is a means of finding the truth.
