Title | Diagram, Isaac Barrow's solution to [Renatus Franciscus] Slusius' 'Construction of Solid Problems' [relayed by John Collins] |
Date | 17th century |
Description | Renatus Franciscus Slusius's construction of solid problems, which was sent to Isaac Barrow who approved. Diagram shows calculating infinity. Shows a square with a curve inside it, with intersections between the lines labelled, and surrounded by equations.
Collins relays Barrow's observations on the 'Construction of Solid Problems' and quadratic equations, primarily that 'when the Equations are quadrato quadratical may be referr'd to these two problems, and be constructed as they, without any reduction or alteration of the termes.'
