Description | Mrs Barcroft describes the recipe for a ptisan [tisane] that can be used to treat scurvy. The drink includes China-roots, sarsaparilla, nephrite wood, and sassafras wood which are infused in boiling water. A small bag containing salep root, turbith [Operculina turpethum; morning glory], hermodacts, and tappissiac is then steeped in the resulting liquid to make the tisane. Cinnamon and senna are then added.
