Title | Paper, regarding the digester used for cooking rice by Denis Papin |
Date | 19 May 1686 |
Description | Following the suggestion of John Hoskyns regarding rice as a good nutrition for sailors, Papin tested cooking rice with the digester, 3 times water for 1 portion of rice until evaporation of the water, and proposes trying with 6 times water for 1 portion of rice to turn the rice into a dough. Concludes that the method would save water and booking time which were barriers to use of rice at sea. |
