TitlePaper, 'Observations on a treatise by [Jean Claude Adrian] Helvetius of Paris designed to prove that the lungs do not divide and expand the blood, but that, on the contrary, they cool and condense it' by [Frank] Nicholls
Datec.1730
DescriptionPublished by Helvetius in 1728 in defence of a memorial read before the Academy of Sciences in the year 1718. Discusses the matter in question between the Helvetius and Signor Michellotti - whether the lungs cool and condense the blood, according to the opinion of the ancients, or whether they mix, attenuate, and of consequence expand it, according to the system of Dr Pitcairn.
