| Description | Burattini describes an instrument consisting of a brass plate with two blades parallel to one another, 'each with seven brass nailes and beaten as much forward as backward; but before they are fastened, the blades must be hollowed'. The instrument also consists of 'two drawers [...] whose jonitures [jointures] enter exactly into the joniture of the two blades'. The instrument can be used to find the diameter of the planets. | Notes | Even though the image sheet is catalogued as CLP/8i/12a/2 and bound in the volume behind the text labelled 12a, it seems likely that this image sheet accompanied Burattini's original text on the basis that the label next to the figures says 'Figura', as in the Italian original text, instead of 'Fig.' as in the translation. |
