Date | 1671 |
Description | This is a diagram indicating a lunar eclipse, observed at Ecton, Northamptonshire on 8 September 1671. This was most likely observed by John Palmer (1612-1679), cousin of one of the founding fellows of the Royal Society, John Wilkins. Palmer, who was Cambridge-educated and pupil of astronomer Samuel Foster (c.1600-1652), was Archdeacon of Northampton and regularly made astronomical observations at Ecton.
