DescriptionCommittee appointed in 1894 [?] in response to a letter from Mr Galton pointing out the desirablility of appointing a Committee "for the purpose of conducting statistical inquiry into the variability of organisms" at a meeting of Council where it was "Resolved - That the following gentlemen be appointed to a Committee for that purpose, with power to add to their number - Mr Galton, (Chairman), Mr F Darwin, Professor Macalister, Professor Meldola, Professor Poulton, Professor Weldon."
