Read and confirmed minutes of last meeting of 11 March 1875

' Secretary reported that the fund available was £201 - 18 - 8d

Letter read from Mr Wyon, and Mr Mc Phail, in answer to inquiries as to the cost of executing a medal.

Resolved, - That Mr Mc Phail's offer be accepted. The Committee agreed to the following inscription; "The Royal Society to John SMith in accordance with thewill of Humphry Davy who devoted the testimonial presented to him by the Coalowners of the Tyne and Wear to the encouragement of Chemical Research 1876 " '
