1. Read and signed minutes of the previous meeting

2. After discussion of the organization of the War Sectional Committees, recommendations were agreed to be made to the Council sitting as War Committee. [Three recommendtions, mainly on personnel to sit on the committees, listed]


3. It was agreed that;
3a. To recommend the re-appointment of the Reserved Occupations Committee, and the appointment of Professor Frankland as chairman
3b. Agreed to recommend Professor Herdman be added to the Grain Pests Committee

4. Agreed to approve the publication of the Report of the Physiology War Committee on the food supply of the United Kingdom, wioth only a general title, the omission of the first page, and the addition of the names of the Food Supply Committee at the end.

5. Letter from the Chemical Secional Commmittee of 25 November 1916 regarding advice in the manufacturing of drugs. [Transcript of letter included in the minutes] and it was resolved that ' the proposals of the Committee be approved and that action be taken upon them forthwith.'

6. After discussion it was agreed ' to recommend to Council to contribute the sum of £50 to the funds of the Conjoint Board of Scientific Societies for 1917.'

7. Letters read from Sir William Tilden relating to the regulation for restricting the length of candidates certificatges as printed for circulation, and proposing (1) that all certificates, whether old ones resuspended or new ones, be reduced to the prescribed length; and (2) that lists of papers published by candidates be not printed with the certificate, but held available with the original certificate for reference. Resolved, 'that the first proposal be accepted and carried into effect forthwith, but that subject to such restrictions the lists of papers be printed with the certificates of this year.'

8. Reserved Occupations;
8a. Letter of 1 December, and addressed to the Military Representative at Manchester, with regard to the exemption of Mr W H Maddocks, was laid before the Committee and approved
8b. Letter from Professor T B Wood, of 11 December, was laid before the Committee and it was agreed that he should be informed that the Society has no power to prevent mem from enlisting if they wish to do so.
