DescriptionGives a brief description of various food sources considered by the Committee, including the use of acorns for feeding of pigs and in acetone/alcohol production; horse chestnuts as a carbohydrate source and in adhesives manufacture; yeast, as produced by the Marmite Food Extract Company; sawdust as a source of carbohydrate, use in alcohol production, as manure, and as a possible source of protein and fat -- describes an organism similar to yeast that can be isolated from it; cellulose from straw and wood, used as fodder; dog-fish; slaughter-house offal added to fodder; use of rabbit intestines in feeding pigs, dogs and poultry; bracken, cooked and eaten or as a source of starch; sea weeds and Irish moss; cereal substitutes such as 'rice spanish'; miscellaneous foods such as blackberries, hazelnuts and sea bird eggs. p8.
