1. Confirmed minutes of the meeting held on 23 January 1940, and opinions obtained by correspondence in February 1941, May 1942, and June 1942

2. Apologies for absence from Sir Edward Appleton, Professor P M S Blackett and the Master of Clare

3. Considered the future staffing of the Laboratory, and it was agreed that ' the Laboratory should have a Director (of the status of a Reader), and Assistant Director of Research, and several research assistants: it was felt that the University was the proper body to finance these posts, but the hope was expressed that the Royal Society would continue to pay one research assistant. '

5. Considered the renewal of Dr J F Allen's appointment as Mond Laboratory Assistant, and resolved ' that it be a recommendation to Council that (i) Dr Allen's appointment be terminated as from 30 September 1943; that (ii) a grant of £140 be made to the University of Cambridge to assist in maintaining an assistant in research at the Mond Laboratory for the year ending 30 September 1944; and that (iii) the superannuation policies held in favour of Dr Allen by the Society be assigned to the University of Cambridge as from the date of termination of Dr Allen's appointment.
