DescriptionDescribes the work undertaken by the Committee on sleeping sickness in Uganda, including the fact that trypanosoma is always present in the disease and is carried by the fly -- describes evidence of the spread of this disease along the Nile and the risk of its expansion into Egypt -- lays out a research scheme to investigate the distribution of the tsetse fly, the populations affected, the natural history of the disease and conditions surrounding its transmission. Notes that the Committee will need 'much more complete and vigorous action' involving the Foreign Office and Colonial Office to cope with the disease -- recommends 'a much larger staff of observers, and much ampler appliances'. p27-28.
