DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Francis Baily; Captain Francis Beaufort; John George Children; Samuel Hunter Christie; William Clift; Joseph Henry Green; George Bellas Greenough; Charles Konig; John William Lubbock; William George Maton; Roderick Murchison; William Hasledine Pepys; Peter Mark Roget; Reverend Richard Sheepshanks; the President, His Royal Highness [Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex] in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. James D. Forbes applied for a copies of the Greenwich Observations for three Scottish institutions, granted. The index to Philosophical Transactions 1821-1830 to be given to Fellows, Foreign Members and Societies receiving the journal, and to be sold at 5 shillings. In consequence of Sir Herbert Tayor's letter to the President of 25 March, Council resolutions regarding the Royal Medals are rescinded. Reports of the Royal Medal Committees read: Sir John Herschel and Professor De Candolle to receive Royal Medals, while medals for 1836 would be awarded to the authors of the most important unpublished papers submitted on astronomy and animal physiology. The Secretaries were granted copies of the index to Transactions.
