Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Resolved that the seal of the Royal Society be affixed to the circular letter on magnetism to be addressed to the Pacha of Egypt. Letter from C. Wood, Admiralty, 30 July 1839, to Peter Mark Roget, full text entered into the minutes: asking for details of the glazed cases and other equipment recommended for Captain Ross, Dr. Todd to see Sir John Barrow on the subject. Resolved to recommend to the Admiralty that Mr. Daguerre's apparatus be furnished to the Antarctic Expedition. Resolution on the title of the Meteorological Committee's report and that 1,000 copies to be printed. Meteorological observers to be supplied with skeleton forms, once they had paid for paper and printing expenses. |
