Commencing with a list of Council members present: Francis Baily; Sir John Barrow; Thomas Bell; Samuel Hunter Christie; John Frederick Daniell; Bryan Donkin; Thomas Galloway; Richard Phillips; Peter Mark Roget; the Treasurer, Sir John William Lubbock, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Resolved that the Assistant Secretary be directed to keep a register of the award of medals. Letter from Lord Tyrconnel signalling his wish to withdraw from the Society; to be allowed, on payment of arrears. Appointment of the auditors of the Treasurer's accounts. Letter from Mr. Vaughan, requesting an index to the Philosophical Transactions and the forthcoming Proceedings, for the American Philosophical Society, granted. Letter of thanks from John Muller, for his election as a Foreign Member.
